about based on myths

In this series I depict mythological figures or persons surrounded by myths as young people in the here and now before they become known.

It started while looking at people in the urban area as a result of reflecting on becoming aware of the coherence between emotion, isolation and connection when we are young.

In finding and getting identity in this process I saw an ironical link with classical figures who are more or less shaped by written myths as composed to young people nowadays who are influenced by the myths on the internet.

In terms of appearance, I decided to paint these classical persons in a combination of a comic-book and pin-up kind of style. In the present with their cell phones at hand. Round them an abstracted environment to emphasise meaning and also to make room for interpretation away from pinpointing titles and visual elements.
